Weathering the Global Financial Storm (Event Code: EV1)
First Saturday of every month, 10 am - 12:30 pm
Price: RMB 450 per person

Are you worried about your retirement plan or investment fund?  Don't know whether to buy now or wait until after the World Expo?  Want to know the safest place to park your money?  These questions and many more will be answered by British financier and investment banker, John Ashton, during this half-day seminar on navigating your personal finances through the global economic crisis.


Xitang Water Town Photography Expedition (Event Code: EV2A)
First Sunday of every month, 9 am - 6:30 pm
Price: RMB 975 per person

Grab your camera and join us on this photography adventure to the ancient water town of Xitang, not far from Shanghai.  We will be accompanied by two professional photographers and a group of photo enthusiasts, as we conduct a professional field shoot together.  Demonstrations and instruction are included in the shoot.  The group gathers later in the day to discuss and critique our work together in a supportive environment.  For more photography tours, click here.


Shanghai Amateur Film Festival (Event Code: EV3)
Second Saturday of every month, 9 am - 10 pm
Price: RMB 575 per person

Join independent filmmakers, actors, writers, and film enthusiasts for this full-day celebration of film, featuring short screenings from four continents and a mini-award ceremony.  Observe or take part in the shooting of three scenes on location for our independent documentary-style film about living and working in Shanghai.  For more details, click here.


Amateur Fashion Show (Event Code: EV4)
Second Sunday of every month, 9 am - 9 pm
Price: Free (for participants only); RMB 350 per person (for spectators)

Bring the whole family to take part in the glamorous world of fashion, as we host our monthly amateur fashion show.  Work under the guidance of professional fashion designers to create and model your own original garment, or work behind the scenes to help coordinate the show.  This is a fun and educational experience for the whole family.


Traditional Chinese Medicine Workshop (Event Code: EV5)
Tuesday and Thursday every week, 10 am - 12:30 pm

Join several local TCM practitioners as we explore the basic principles and practices of TCM and how they can be applied in everyday life.  This two-part series includes a general introduction to TCM theory followed by a practical workshop demonstrating how to turn theory into practice in your own home and kitchen.  Many practical recipes can promote good health and add exotic variety to your weekly menu.


Feng Shui Workshop (Event Code: EV6)
Sunday every week, 10 am - 12:30 pm

Come and join us on this fascinating journey into the ancient principles and practices of Feng Shui, based on the idea that our lives are truly affected by the physical and emotional environment in which we live.  This half-day workshop cuts through the hype and the myths of Feng Shui and explores its relationship to life, health, and general well being.


Bargain Hunter's Shopping Tour (Event Code: EV7)
Saturday every week, 9 am - 1 pm

Price: RMB 300 per person

Join us on a fun tour of Shanghai's most-economic shopping venues, including a variety of open-air markets, Qipu Lu, Hongqiao Intl. Pearl City, E. Nanjing Rd., and others.  Our local guide will demonstrate the fine art of bargaining and discuss shopping essentials such as "real value", transportation, logistics, and more.  Tours set out at 9:00 AM every Saturday and end with (optional) lunch at 1:00 PM.  Be sure to dress warm and wear comfortable shoes!


Save-the-Planet Eco-Awareness Seminar (Event Code: EV8)
Saturday every week, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Price: RMB 250 per person

Come and explore the many ways that you can protect the environment and create sustainable practices in your everyday life.  Bring the whole family to join our fun activities focused on the three R's of Reducing, Re-Using, and Recycling.  From shopping to disposal, we explore the many lifestyle adjustments that you can implement to help heal the earth.  All ages are welcome at this half-day seminar.


Fine Wine Appreciation Seminar (Event Code: EV9)
Sunday every week, 1 pm - 3:30 pm
Price: RMB 450 (includes wines) per person

Come and sample some of the finest wines from around the world as you learn the fundamentals of wine tasting and wine appreciation.  Different wine styles and regions, identifying key grape varieties, wine classification, storing and serving, and matching wine with food are all covered in this half-day wine seminar and workshop.

Price includes all wines.


Saturday Golf Outing (Event Code: EV10)
Saturday every week, 9 am - 10 pm
Price: RMB 1000 (all inclusive) per person

Join us for a proper day of golf at the Hong Qiao Golf Club with American golfer Paul Rogers.  Beginners and advanced are all welcome in this full-day celebration of golf which includes a mini-tournament and awards ceremony at the club's banquet hall.  Cost is 1000 per person all inclusive.  Saturday all day.


Shanghai Historic Walking Tour Series (Event Code: EV11)
Saturday every week, 9 am - 1 pm
Price: Varies from tour to tour; updates are given by email.

Come and join architect/historian Anne Warr and a group of history and architecture buffs for our Saturday-morning walking tour around Shanghai.  Each week, we visit famous mansions, historic places, and fascinating landmarks around Puxi area. Tours set out at 9:00 AM every Saturday and end with lunch at 1:00 PM.  Be sure to dress according to the weather and wear comfortable shoes!

Registration Procedure:
Please register online first to reserve your place.  After submitting your registration, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours.  Payment days for ELC events usually fall on the last Friday and Saturday of the month for the following month's events.  Your confirmation email will have detailed payment and other information for your specific event.
 Please note: Register early to reserve your place.  Payment must be received on time to complete your enrollment and maintain your reservation in the event(s) for which you have registered.
