Adobe Flash is the leading animation and interactivity software being used on
the Web today, and it's importance continues to explode ever greater as Web
sites become more and more sophisticated and interactive every day. Flash
is commonly used to create dynamic content, advertisements, to integrate video
into web pages, and more recently, to develop rich Internet applications.
Web design is making dramatic moves away from traditional HTML and toward the
interactivity and multimedia features offered by Flash. This course is intended
for anyone who is interested in gaining a basic proficiency in Adobe Flash CS4.
We will focus on the core skills needed for starting a flash project, such as
drawing, tweening, and using the timeline, as well as how to avoid the common
pitfalls that new users often experience. This is a hands-on workshop
oriented class, where students will implement the skills learned in class in
ongoing projects throughout the ten weeks. In this course, students will
learn to create vector-based artwork and animate it in Flash, learn about the
Flash interface, drawing and color tools, animation basics, tweening, symbols,
basic timeline-based scripting, and making simple Flash files to embed into Web
pages.
