Photography

Franc Piret brings with him an astonishing variety of experiences in life and in the arts.  From motorcycle racing to movie making, Franc's life has been a fascinating journey around the globe, shooting photos and video including corporate and TV commercials (for such brands as MTV, McDonald's, Mercedes, Philips, Toyota, Pampa, Piombo, Baosteel, Monmilk, and many others), writing articles as a reporter for glamorous travel and fashion magazines, working in the film industry as a director, cameraman, art director, music and film editor, and in the publishing industry as editor in chief (of two monthly magazines), as design and creative director, reporter, and, of course, photographer.  Ever since graduating from Paris VI University, Franc has traveled around the world, capturing images on film and in photography, in the field of sports, travel, fashion, news, and advertising.  During his 24 years as a professional photographer, Franc has worked in nearly every industry, bringing into his teaching a world view that is unusually broad and well rounded.  On a personal level. Franc has recently produced several short films and showreels and is currently working across industry boundaries here in Shanghai with a variety of actors, models, artists, and filmmakers.

Film

Franc is a professional director, cameraman, and photographer with extensive experience in journalism (Europe), movie-making as a photographer, DP and assistant director (Taiwan), promotional videos (Japan) and TV commercials (China).  For the past five years, Franc has been working in Shanghai as a script-writer, director, and cameraman mainly for TV commercials, corporate videos, MTV, and independent short-movies.  He has completed projects for brands including Amway, Avon, Baosteel, Buick, Decathlon, Harley-Davidson, Estee Lauder, Jing An Xu, McDonald, Mitsubishi, Philips, Toto, Toyota, Ritz-Carlton Hotel, and others.  In addition to his professional photography and film career, Franc has been teaching photography at ELC for the past five years.  He is a dedicated and passionate instructor who consistently gains extremely high praise from his students.
