Genco Berk
Applied Interior Design
Genco Berk is an internationally
celebrated interior designer and decorator with an extraordinary
portfolio spanning three continents and almost 25 years of design work.
The son of an architect (father) and a painter/designer (mother), Genco
was immersed in the design business from an early age and was a frequent
visitor to Europe's most-important museums, galleries, and architectural
sites, where, under the tutelage of his parents, he became a young
expert and connoisseur of arts and design. At the age of 17, Genco
was officially brought into his father's business, soon afterward
undertaking his Bachelor studies in architecture. Upon graduation,
Genco was granted his first major independent interior design contract,
a branch office of the German Dresdner Bank A.G., marking the beginning
of a quarter-century architectural and design career which has spanned
an astounding 20 countries, enabling him to innovate a broad variety of
residential, commercial, and commissioned projects. More recently,
Genco was selected to represent Vienna as a consortia partner in the
"International Airport Terminal" project in Istanbul, Turkey, with an
investment of 305 Million USD. Mr. Berk is to date the only
Austrian member of IIDA (International Interior Design Association) and
is a recognized authority in the field of interior decorating. His
work is widely cited in magazines and trade journals around the world.
In 2004, Genco developed a patented furniture production method for
directly imprinting 2D artworks onto furniture surfaces, bringing a
whole new level of originality into the field of interior design.
Genco currently owns and operates a successful interior-design firm in
Shanghai.
