Lance brings a uniquely practical perspective into his teaching as a founding partner and senior designer of an award winning mid-size design company in the heart of Shanghai's trendy Tai Kang Lu Art District.  He is on the cutting edge of the Shanghai design world, servicing a dizzying array of multi-million-dollar accounts and international clients in areas spanning interior and architectural, residential and commercial, large and small projects ranging from 100 sq. meters to 50,000 sq. meters.  Having built his firm into one of the most-sought after design firms in Shanghai today, Lance has a broad spectrum of experience managing varying projects on a daily basis.  After completing a Bachelor's degree in architectural studies at Syracuse University in New York and then a master's degree in architecture at the University of Illinois, Lance rose through the ranks, gaining widespread recognition through the authorship of numerous articles in such well known publications as Elle Decoration, Space, Interior, ID + C and a host of others, while achieving award-winning designs on a wide range of projects here in Shanghai and around China.  He is currently involved in the management of every facet of interior design, from concept to project completion, including the managing of budgets, overseeing staff members, coordinating sub-contractors, etc..  His duties have covered every aspect of operating an interior design firm, including the overseeing of recruitment, Web site development, management, and business development.  He has previously been responsible for drawing and coordinating exterior and interior drawing packages for a series of institutional and large scale mixed-use commercial projects, creating unique architectural concepts according to client demand, creating renderings and perspectives of mixed-use commercial master planning, residential, and institutional projects, collaborating with sub-contractors and material vendors to ensure designs are realized, and creating perspective renderings for various university master planning extensions, office, and commercial projects.  Lance also specializes in computer assisted design software, such as AutoCAD, 3D Max, Rhino, Sketch Up, Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Microsoft Office Suite, and Apple.  He is a warm and caring instructor whose passion for design finds dazzling expression both inside the classroom and out in the real world.
