Landa Ruen
Ceramics: The Art of Throwing (Intro to the Potters Wheel)

Landa Ruen is a professional ceramics teacher who graduated from Cornell College in the U.S. with a degree in ceramics and a minor in anthropology.  At Cornell, her final thesis exhibition was awarded the Richard Kimmel Award for excellence in painting.  Landa also studied art history, painting, ceramics, and creative writing at the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago.  After graduating from Cornell, she apprenticed with a local ceramicist in the State of Minnesota.  Upon completion of her apprenticeship, Landa moved to the Washington D.C. area where she began teaching art for middle school students at the highly-regarded Browne Academy.  There she also taught several after-school ceramics workshops and other non-profit arts workshops.  After teaching art for two years, she moved to China and began teaching English in Guangzhou.  Landa has recently moved to Shanghai, where she will be completing an artist residency that involves creating and exhibiting oil paintings at a local gallery.  Landa is a down-to-earth instructor with a genuine passion for ceramics and a desire to share her knowledge with others.
