Lusa Hung holds a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (with a
specialization in Diversity) from Argosy University in Hawaii.
Lusa's interest in multicultural issues in psychology has brought her to
Shanghai where she is now providing child and family counseling,
conducting psycho-educational assessments, and consulting with families
and schools while working with expatriate children and families as a
Psychologist and Educational Consultant at Special Education Consulting
Shanghai (SEC). She is also driven by a personal interest in
exploring and improving the field of psychology in China because of her
Chinese heritage. She does intake meetings, provides counseling,
and conducts Q&A sessions in Mandarin. Prior to working in
Shanghai, Lusa has done clinical work in California, Hawaii, and New
York. Throughout her career, she has provided individual, couples,
group and family counseling in a variety of settings including county
outpatient mental health settings, day treatment programs, substance
abuse clinics, school settings, community and home settings, residential
treatment centers, forensic outpatient settings, and state hospitals.
She has also provided psychological and psycho-educational assessments
in state-funded regional centers, schools, private and public
facilities, and military bases. She has worked with individuals
with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the lifespan
with such challenges including Autism, Asperger's Disorder, Mental
Retardation, Cerebral Palsy and Seizure Disorder. She also has
experience working with managed care companies where she provided
clinical case management, crisis intervention, behavioral health
condition (disease) management, employee assistance, WorkLife
consultation, and telephonic EAP assessment and referral. Lusa
also has vast experience in providing training, seminars, and workshops,
and will be a panelist and presenter at the Chinese Mental Health
Development Summit in Wuhan in October 2009, where the mission is to
explore directions and strategies for the development of mental health
in China as well as ideal ways to improve Chinese mental health.
Lusa is an active member of SIMHA (Shanghai International Mental Health
Association) and APA (American Psychological Association).
