Rashmi Jolly Dalai
Fiction Writing
Rashmi
Jolly Dalai is a prolific author whose writing spans the arts and
sciences in a diverse range of genres, including technical writing,
fiction, editing, and of course blogging. Her journey into the
world of
writing began 15 years ago, when she changed majors (and her life's
course) from medicine to writing at Johns Hopkins University, where she
earned a BA in writing. She later attended Columbia University,
earning a Master's degree in international affairs and began work as a
journalist upon graduating. Rashmi has had the privilege of
writing for such illustrious publications as Bridge News, Financial
Newswire, and for Goldman Sachs as a research writer. Ever since
beginning her first novel (which took three years to complete), Rashmi
has been immersed in writing, with her novel, short stories, and
blogging flourishing over the years. She is currently working on
her second novel, co-authoring a children's book, and writes numerous
short stories and articles about her life and travels. Rashmi
believes being a student of writing and a teacher of writing are
symbiotic relationships. As a result, she has been a diligent
student
of the Asian American Writer's Workshop, Gotham Writing Workshop, and
an independently formed novel-writing workshop for many years.
She has
also taught novel workshops and has worked as an editor and
collaborator on numerous works, including as editor for "Blue Blood and
Mutiny: The Fight for the Soul of Morgan Stanley" by Patricia
Beard. Her editorial work has helped authors write and publish on
a wide range
of topics including financial analysis, teaching and curriculum
development, infertility and genetics. Her work has been featured
in the Baltimore City Paper, Bridge News, Bloomberg, and Travel Abroad. She also currently blogs at shanghai-me.blogspot.com.
