Richard is a Shanghai-based consultant in the fields of accounting, internal control, and financial management.  Born in Vancouver, Canada, he is an American CPA and has an MBA in international business from the University of Chicago.  Early in his career he worked in the US and Canada for several Big Four accounting firms, and since 2004 has been working and travelling in China.

With a passion for learning and education Richard has taught accounting and business subjects at several prominent universities, including Tsinghua in Beijing, Tongji and East China Normal in Shanghai, and DePaul in Chicago.  He has also taught numerous corporate training programs in the US and China, including classes for McKinsey & Company, Kraft Foods, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.

He has a number of years of partner-level experience with the predecessor firms to PricewaterhouseCoopers, currently the largest accounting firm in the world, and another 20 years in other significant roles in accounting, consulting, and education.  He also spent two years with the firm that became Accenture, one of the world's largest and most successful information systems and management consulting firms.
