Vocal Technique / Singing

Lucre Houtman is a Dutch national of Spanish, African American and Asian descent and was raised in the Caribbean on the island of Aruba (Dutch colony).  She speaks four languages, English, Spanish, Dutch and Papiamento.  At the early age of three her mother immigrated to the Caribbean island of Aruba which is where Lucre was raised.  Her singing career started at elementary school when her teacher encouraged her, at the young age of eight, to participate in a local singing competition called "Voz y Landia" where she accomplished the first place in her age category, talent, and voice.  It was then she discovered and fell in love with the world of music and her future singing career commenced.  Still, it was only in her teenage years while singing in a Catholic church choir that she realized and was reassured of her passion and love for music.  Lucre's first official performance was at the Aruba "Quota" Annual Jazz Wine and Cheese Party and since then her career in singing evolved.  At that stage, Lucre's singing and appearance performances began to include private corporate functions, background vocal performances and recordings for local artists, radio and television.  Modeling and television host/presenter career were also added to her resume.

Lucre's next challenge was when she was offered the female lead vocalist and dancer position in a Cuban Latin show, the "Let's go Latin" show at the Sonesta Hotel.  During this show she embraced the opportunity to combine her passion for singing, acting, and dancing skills.  Upon completion of this contract, she redirected her focus on her own band and began travelling around the world and the Caribbean with her band "Vision" performing for Princess Cruise Lines for a duration of three years.  Lucre also explored and added a television career to her resume by appearing on local Aruban television as a host/ presenter of the popular TV program "Real Estate TV Aruba".  Then Lucre highlighted her career with her second band "Abstract Dawn", a lounge, dance, electronic band playing lounge jazzy smooth dance music from various world-renowned artists.  "Abstract Dawn" performed at major private corporate events such as SITE International Convention (world-famous tourist convention), private parties, as well as at the local lounges, bars, and pubs, which led to the band performing the opening act for one of the world's best-known European DJ's, DJ TIESTO.

Lucre has an extensive repertoire and versatility in different genres of music such as Jazz, Latin, R&B, Pop, Contemporary Jazz, Lounge, Reggae, Funk, Disco and Dance, Electronic, House, to name a few.  Besides singing, she also has many other talents, such as photo modeling, doing radio commercials and advertisements, as well as being a television host/presenter.  Lucre is a very warm and encouraging instructor who loves sharing the joy of singing with every student she meets.

Caribbean/local performances:

Performances at all the major five- and four-star resorts and casinos on the island of Aruba such as the Hyatt Regency Resort and Casino, Marriott, Radisson, Sonesta, Renaissance Resort, The Westin, Continental Hotel and the Wyndham Resort and Casino, to mention a few.  Performing at local venues such as Rembrandt Café, Café Chaos, Arawak Gardens, Bugaloe Pier, Divi Tamarijn Hotel, Havana Beach Club, Garufa Cigar Club and Cocktail Lounge.

Her career also includes performances at high-end venues on the island of Aruba such as the Country Club and Golf Resort "Tierra del Sol" and "Mr. Jazz Nightclub" by international Cuban artist Chucho Valdez.

Music concerts such as the annual Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival, Carnaval Tumba Calypso and Roadmarch annual local contest, the annual Soul beach Music Festival where she performed one of the opening acts for the American singer, actor, and comedian Jamie Fox.

International performances:

Lucre's resume reads like an exclusive travelling diary and she is Aruba's most celebrated female export.  She was booked on lengthy gig contracts in Europe (Holland, Spain) and Asia (China).  The opportunity to continue travelling and performing abroad presented itself when she was offered to perform in Asia at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Indonesia, Jakarta.  In Asia she has established herself for almost four years and performed in places such as The Grand Hyatt (Jakarta, Indonesia), The Intercontinental Hotel (Singapore), as well as a private corporate performance for Singapore Airlines, The Shangri-La Kerry Centre (Beijing, China), the prestigious Shangri-la Hotel in Pudong (Shanghai, China).  Lucre also performed at some elite bars and lounges in Shanghai, such as the well-known "CJW" in Xintiandi, JZ Club, and "Brick" Wine Bar and Lounge.

Lucre is currently the resident singer at the Shanghai Ritz Carlton Hotel, where she can be seen performing several nights per week.  If you have an opportunity, be sure to drop by for a night to remember.

Cherry Brown
is a lovely sultry singer who grew up listening to Gospel and jazz music in her home.  Both of her parents were singers (father professional and mother non-professional), and she began to incorporate the two influences and come up with a style of her own at a very early age.  Cherry has been singing since the tender age of five with a group called Not 2 Busy 4 Kids as the lead singer.  The group performed at many venues such as the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, as well as many convalescent homes and churches in the greater L.A. area.  Cherry later began to sing in her school choirs and eventually got the opportunity to tour with artists such as Lina from Hidden Beach.  Cherry has made her appearance on "Soul Train", singing background for artist Micheal Spencer, and also on TV ONE singing background for Lucinda Moore.  In 2007, Cherry became a solo artist working with Bammin Music Productions; and, then in 2009, she moved from Los Angeles to Mesa, Arizona and began working as the female vocal in the group Galaxxy.  Cherry has recorded songs and Youtube videos that showcase her talent and is presently working in Shanghai as the resident singer of PGP (Playaz Gotta Play).  Cherry's popularity as the sultry soulful singer of Shanghai has been growing steadily, and she has become a known celebrity around town, sharing the love and peace of her music with thousands of admiring fans.  Cherry is a warm and personable teacher who brings the wonderful miracle of music with her everywhere she goes!
