In-depth hands-on class (suitable for beginner to advanced students)

This course is intended for office workers, business professionals, and anyone who is interested in obtaining extra-useful knowledge and skills in MS Office 2010, as well as uncovering some hardly-known but very helpful features and functions.  This ten-week intensive course will streamline your workday, making tasks and projects easier and more efficient as you learn to fully integrate different applications to achieve higher productivity and presentability.  As an MS-Office power user, you will be the master of MS Office Suite's most powerful functions, tools, applications, and integrative capabilities.  Topics to be covered include but are not limited to:

  1. The differences between Office 2007 and Office 2010
    • New and updated menus and functionality
    • Faster navigation, formatting and reformatting tools - Quick Access Toolbar (QAT)
    • Menus appearing and disappearing while editing
    • Open Formats (*.odt), Windows Live Writer integration, Silverlight, photo editing tools with full functionality, etc.
       
  2. Microsoft Office Outlook 2010
    • New and updated layouts and menus
    • Personal signatures
    • Using your calendar in the best possible way
    • Contacts, tasks and notes
    • Organizing and maintaining contacts
    • Backup procedures
       
  3. Microsoft Office Word 2010
    • New and updated layouts and menus
    • Formatting using the power tools
    • Fast layout and design changes
    • Page layout
    • Mailing from word
    • Table of contents
       
  4. Microsoft Office Excel 2010
    • New and updated layouts and menus
    • More efficient formatting
    • Formulas

In addition to instruction in the above programs, the below programs will be introduced to the degree that students understand their full capabilities and functionality in preparation for further study. 

  • Microsoft Office Access 2010
    Database software with a limited user interface. If you want to learn how to use Access you need a lot of training and practice in order to make a professional layout and configuration.
  • Microsoft Office OneNote 2010
    A new way of writing, recording and editing notes. This handy program lets you take notes using audio and video.
  • Microsoft Office Project 2010
    Create and manage projects using this powerful tool, which can handle everything from time to assets.
  • Microsoft Office Publisher 2010
    Create professional publications and material for marketing. You can create everything from business cards to company paper, menus etc.
  • Microsoft Office Visio 2010
    Create flow charts, web layouts, diagrams etc. by using Visio.
  • Microsoft Office SharePoint 2010
    Use SharePoint 2010 for people to work together, including setting up Web sites to share information with others, managing documents from start to finish, and publishing reports to help everyone make better decisions.

Registration Procedure:
First register online to reserve your place.  You will receive a confirmation email with further details and instructions.  Payment must be made on site at the ELC Learning Center during the payment dates shown below (you can come in person or send someone).

Tuition fee payment for the Fall Session 2013 will take place Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, September 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th.  The payment hours are 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Payments will be received in the Registration Office at the ELC Learning Center.  Payment must be received on time to complete your enrollment and maintain your reservation in the class(es) for which you have registered.

Register early to reserve your place, as many classes fill up quickly.  If the course for which you are registered does not reach the minimum enrollment requirement, you will be notified of the cancellation before the payment dates.  As such, we receive payments only for courses which are proceeding as scheduled.  Please note, we do not offer trial lessons or discounts of any kind. 
Refund Policy: No refunds will be issued after the start of the term.
