Learn how to get the most out of your equipment and develop a keener eye at the same time.  The goal of this course is to teach the amateur photographer how to think and work like a pro without compromising fun and creativity.  This course condenses 40 years of experiences of three top photographers working in Shanghai today in the movie, fashion, travel, sports, news, and advertising industries.  At the end of this ten-week course, photography can even become a job opportunity for the most pro-minded students.  You will gain more confidence and creative sensitivity as you learn to implement easier and more-efficient methods.  On the budget and technical side, students will get a complete overview of all necessary equipment, as well as practical advice on how to save money and make the decisions that are right for you.  We will simplify questions of film type, camera operation, shutter speeds, apertures, focal lengths, and reading your light meter.  Nobody will be left behind.  All techniques from manual camera controls to digital post-production enhancement are included, as well as the hardware and software skills you need for uploading and producing outstanding digital photographs.

On the human side, you will discover some exclusive and constructive advice to prepare you for photo shoots, including filling your bag and choosing your gear like a pro.  Out in the field, you will know how to move, to get in touch with people, and make the most out of the subject you are willing to shoot.  On the creative side, both professional photography lectures and hands-on workshops provide valuable insights into frame composition, using accessories, and lighting controls.  On the whole, you will learn to resolve technical, aesthetic, and conceptual issues while creating a personal project through a series of images processed on computer and viewed on the classroom projector within a supportive environment.  Students should bring a working camera that can be switched to manual with a built-in light meter to the first session, or be prepared to purchase (or borrow) one after consultation with the instructor.  While filling in the entry form, don't forget to indicate the camera type you are working with: reflex or compact, digital or film.  This course will also include a course handbook which can be taken with you at the end of two weeks.
