Web Design and Development I
Intensive Introduction (suitable for beginner to intermediate students)
Taught by Kevin Sörensen.  Click here for Kevin's profile.

Quality Web design is about more than just laying out objects on the page.  Every design decision you make depends on the overall goals of the site, encompassing an understanding of how people use online environments to fulfill a broad range of needs.  Approach your designs from a comprehensive viewpoint, learning to employ aspects of interface design, content strategy, multimedia production, marketing, and basic graphic-design principles to create unique and effective projects which fulfill your online goals.  Create visual design and navigation systems that are intuitive and easy to use, and learn how to develop a professional, industry-standard strategy and style for every Web site that you produce.  Learn innovative design and management solutions while balancing technical and aesthetic issues.  This is an intensive hands-on course covering:

  • FrontPage and Dreamweaver: Web sites from design to launch

  • Graphics creation and Flash for animation and motion graphics

  • HTML and CSS (cascading style sheet)

  • Creating and implementing Java scripts

  • Web-site publishing and management

  • Domain name and hosting (i.e. how does a Web address actually "work")

  • Online tools and other useful software

  • Security related issues when using JAVA and VB Scripts
